Silk Satin and Sex (1983)

In this Lawrence Talbot's film four prospective employees at a lingerie company are at a private party with the owner of the store. During this evening each of them will tell how they met their husband.

This is almost a vignette film since all the how "I met my husband" aren't related, but not exactly like the late movies made by Alex DeRenzy since they are part of a narrative.

Fanny (Joanna Storm) is the first to tell her story. They meet each other after his future husband bring back her wallet that she forgot at a store. They go for a walk at Central Park and we know how this will end.

Tiffany Clark

Tiffany Clark is next and she told how she met her husband while doing an hypnotic therapy to stop smoking. Now that one is visual perfection since it mix two events, her hypnotic phantasm and their real sexual encounter.

Jose Duval and Mai Lin

After it's Mai Lin's turn to tell her story. A story where luck played a part since they met each others because the elevator at their work place was out of order. They share a scene in two acts, in the hot tub and the elevator. So it was certainly a good career beginning for Jose Duval 😉

Surprise, we don't get Vanessa del Rio's story next but a lesbian interlude between Mai Lin and Joanna Storm outside... same place they shoot the Central Park encounter because it would have taken balls of steel to really shoot a sex scene in public at Central Park.

Finally we get Vanessa's story... her husband was some random guy she met while she was drinking in a bar! They met in the backyard of a building and after a while they enter in the apartment, the owners caught them but they are far from being shocked to see two strangers there as they decide to go for a foursome.

This film without being a game changer and use a loop kind of format is enjoyable. But to be honest it works because of its great cast... come on it's hard to complain when you get Tiffany Clark, Joanna Storm, Vanessa del Rio and Mai Lin in the same movie.

You can get it in a Vinegar Syndrome double features DVD with Turn On with Kelly Nichols made by the same director and, as usual, they have done a great restoration job.

The Puppeteer (2018)

A crime drama directed by Jacky St. James following the investigation of a wealthy man (Steve Holmes) murder.

The case seems to be pretty much cut and dry, since the detective on the case (Logan Pierce) have an obvious suspect (Small Hands) who was doing a therapy with the victim's wife (India Summer) and was in love with her. In fact he wrote a complete journal about this and, of course, the police have it in their hands.

According to him, she asked him to killed her husband because she didn't want her husband to put his hands on the money from a winning lottery ticket she had. The problem is that this ticket doesn't seem to exist and his probably a created alibi that he use to frame someone else.

Grace (Kristen Scott) who is the girlfriend of the case investigator is quite interested by the investigation and after talking works with him she decides to go meet Holly (Kenna James) the suspect's stepsister (they can't be brother and sister since it's a modern film and they share a sex scene).

During this meeting she reveals many facts, but all this is for nothing since she won't see the next day as she overdosed on drugs. To be honest she isn't the most reliable witness...

The film is far more complicated than that but I think I said enough, I don't want to spoil it for you.

This is another modern film that I highly recommend, in fact it plays a little bit like the erotic crime drama of the nineties but with hardcore sex of course. Since I have seen Kristen Scott before I expected a good performance from her and indeed it was the case, but surprisingly there are no weak links in the cast as everybody give good performances. It's well written and it could have been easily an R rated B-movie. In my book it's a 7 out of 10 which is quite good for a modern adult film.

The DVD come with a behind the scenes featurette but since I have bought the film on Video On Demand I can't say if it makes the physical release essential or not.

Body Magic (1982)

Last adult film made by Sven Conrad (David Worth) and for his goodbye he took the decision to make something different, a film mostly built around the visual and not a complex story.

Of course there is a story about a photographer named Mark (a beardless Rick Ardon) that we follow doing his works and living his life. Since the narrative is mostly centered around his work we see his relationships with Tommy (Joey Silvera) and Laura (Kathleen Kristel) his two assistants.

But the story isn't what is important in this movie. What is is all the beautiful cinematography, the scenery and the editing... which is a little bit frustrating since the DVD isn't very good.

This isn't really a film for the casual viewer since it's probably too artistic, but just like Doing It!, the previous David Worth film I have reviewed, I have really appreciated the experience. To be honest I think it's the type of film you can watch with your partner without feeling "bad" for it. 

Sadly as I said the DVD is sourced from a dark tape so I can't really recommend a purchase, without the original framing and lightning you missed a lot of the original director vision. Anyway the two unauthorized DVD releases for this film are long out of print.

Personally I think that this would make an awesome blue-ray release or, if the market isn't there, a perfect candidate for a remastered from the negative 2K DVD.

Nanci Blue (1979)

People are adducted in the street, their home, etc. by a scientist (Ray Wells) and his assistant (Lisa De Leeuw) to do important scientific research. What are they working on? Women orgasm. Obviously the way they conduct their research doesn't follow the scientic method, so the cops are on the case but they aren't that effective. Enter Nanci Blue (Kandi Barbour) the daughter of a detective (Ron Jeremy) who will try to solve the case even if her father completly disagree.

First thing to say is that it's a cheap production, shoot on tape in 1979 sure isn't a sign of quality and this is probably why that film is mostly forgotten. The problem isn't only that, the biggest fault is that most of the time we have a feeling of being late for the game. What I mean by that is simple, we jump in the action after it started and we get out before it ends.

So nothing essential here, but if you like Kandi Barbour, and who doesn't, it worth a watch... just don't set your expectations high  and expect poor images and sound (why do you think I didn't take that many captures?).

Obviously this is not on DVD, in fact this isn't available on VOD either, and I highly doubt it will ever be considering it's a below average production. Of course you can find it on the usual tube sites if you want to check it, at least it isn't that long.

Expensive Tastes (1978)

One of the first adult film made by Daniel Cady and Maria Lease who are of course better known for the Little Girls Blue movies... if we forgot their mainstream works of course. The film is rougher than what they are known for since this isn't a light comedy but a rape film.

After their first date Alex (Elaine Wells) and David (Joey Silvera) decide to go at David's apartment for a last drink before calling it a day.

Suddenly there is a knock at the door and all hell breaks loose. Indeed three masked men rush in the apartment and they aren't Jehovah Witnesses, far from it... they are there for one thing and that thing is rape.

The home invaders aren't just after Alex since David receives forced oral sex from one of the masked invaders. After they are all done, they leave without killing the couple and Alex returns home the morning after. She refuses to call the cop since she never saw the men and she doesn't want to embarrass her date who was forced to have sexual contacts with another man. 

Surprise David and the rapists are in this together!!!

Back at Alex's house, Alex's mother talks with a detective about what happened. The detective makes the connection between this gang rape and another woman who killed herself after a rape. So he sets a trap using a working girl he knows. She works fast, get a date with David easily and as expected the three rapists invade the house again.

David brings her home the next morning and she calls the detective to confirm that she was rape and that they can go to arrest him.

So they go at David's apartment to arrest him. At the police station he defend himself the best he can, but sadly for him he left incriminating evidences proving without a doubt that he is guilty.

Not as good as the other films made by Maria Lease but enjoyable nonetheless. The cast is quite good and do a good job if we forget Ken Scudder who overact too much. The story is simple and a little bit predictable but it moved fast enough to stay interesting.

The film is on DVD but to be honest this isn't a very good release... the sound go up and down and, at some point, the film cut to an unrelated film for a second. So don't waste your money and go for the renting or the VOD options. If you decide to go this way the film is available at the GameLink website, no publicity here I just think their prices and service are good.

And no, Joey Silvera didn't have gay sex since the third rapist was Eileen Wells

Big Split (1976)

Back in the seventies with a Bob Kirk's production. I know for some he is the worst adult film director ever, I won't and will disagree... He was in the bad category for sure, but no worse than Ray Dennis Steckler or Leonard Kirtman. But set your expectations low and you'll be fine.

We start with a couple, Jack (Paul Scharf) and Cheryl (Cazander Zim), going their own way after a fight. So Cheryl must find a job to support herself, she goes for a job interview and get a job as a waitress but she must have sex with the agency man first

Meanwhile Frank and one of his friend (Spender Travis) have a meeting with an adult film director for works.

Of course they are in luck since two women arrive not long after for the same reason, so the director send all of them in a room to get to know each other better... of course you know what this means.

After that scene practice Jack decide to be a jerk and call his ex-girlfriend to brag... joke on him since she already have someone else in the house.

So it's the end for now, but a sequel full of fun and adventures set in Reno is coming... 

At least this is what the narrator tell us at the end but it was a lie...

For a Bob Kirk's film it was fine, but take that for what it worth... this isn't competent cinema. Pretty much all the dialogues is improvised on the spot and this is kind of funny since improvisation brings overacting, The camera works is pretty bad as usual for his film. But on the other hand... Spring Findlay! Too bad she shows up again in a crappy film, but anything with her is worthy of a watch.

But do I recommend it? Absolutely not, but you can double the fun and get the SWV Dragon Art Theatre Double Features who came with another Bob Kirk's "masterpiece"... The True Way.

City of Vices (2014)

That one was a chore to watch and it was 3h27 long, so yeah it wasn't a good time in front of my screen.

Ryan Ryder

In theory it should have been enjoyable since Dick Bush is a good filmmaker and the story was promising. It's about two rivals criminal gangs fighting over the drug market in a city, but nothing much happen until the end.

OK some stuffs happen through the film but they are excuses to start very long sex scenes (come on more than 30 minutes for sex scenes every time is boring after a while).

Aletta Ocean

Not only the scenes are endless but we get flashback from the mid-nineties, if you don't know what I mean it's simple... surgically enhanced breasts almost everywhere and I hated that back than and I don't like it more today.

Valentina Nappi

It could have been enjoyable if at least 30 minutes more would have been spent on the story and if the casting would have been better. You have Valentina Nappi and Anissa Kate in the film so why not giving the main part to them in place of Aletta Ocean and Jasmine Jae...

Certainly not a recommendation, too bad.
